K-NFB Reader Packages
Handy Tech North America is pleased to be an authorized distributor of the K-NFB Reader from K-NFB Reading Technology.
In celebration of the world's first reader to run on a cell phone, Handy Tech North America is now offering the following packages.
K-NFB Reader Software: $995.00
- for people who already own a supported phone such as the N82 and would like to install the software themselves.
Nokia 6220 Support
The K-NFB Reader Mobile and K-Reader Mobile software now offers support for the Nokia 6220 in addition to the Nokia N82 mobile phone. Although the keys on the 6220 are not quite as well defined from a tactile standpoint, and there is no built-in wifi on the 6220 as there is with the N82, the 6220 is still a good and more affordable option for people who don't need these features. Simply subtract $100 from the cost of any of the packages posted here if you would like to purchase the 6220 instead of the N82.
The above pricing is subject to change without notice.
K-NFB Reading Technology, Inc. presents the ultimate solution to your everyday reading needs - the Kurzweil-National Federation of the Blind Reader. This portable device will revolutionize the way you deal with the avalanche of print you confront each day.
Sorting mail, checking ATM receipts, glancing at handouts - busy people think nothing of doing such tasks on the run, unless they are blind. We have needed human readers or scanners and software programs for such jobs - until now.

Mobile Geo Accessible GPS Software for Windows Mobile Devices
Explore your World with Mobile Geo
With Mobile Geo, you can pinpoint your location, learn about the points of interest in your immediate vicinity, plan a route between specified points of origin and destination, and get instructions on maneuvers to make as well as information about waypoints along a route that you are following.
Mobile Geo is an innovative product for the blind and visually impaired, assisting in safe and independent travel through these features:
- The main screen of the application always displays the most important information including GPS status, current position and heading, nearest POI and intersection, upcoming route waypoint, and active modes.
- GPS status shows the GPS signal quality, accuracy scale, and the number of satellites that the GPS receiver is currently tracking.
- Open the "Where am I" screen anytime to find out details about your current location (address, street, city), nearest POI and intersection, and map coordinates (longitude and latitude).
- When in motion, you can determine, at any time, your present heading (orientation, distance and direction), current speed and altitude.
- Information about the total distance from the starting and end points of a route, the distance yet to be traveled to the selected destination, and the estimated time of arrival are also available while following a route.
- You can look-up an address, define map coordinates, or set your current GPS position as a virtual position, the route origin or destination.
- By setting a destination, you can automatically create routes using the currently loaded map data using either your current GPS location or a specified virtual position as the starting point. All the route waypoints will be listed for you to study at any time.
- You can choose to automatically create routes for pedestrians or motorists.
- Apart from the GPS navigation mode which continuously keeps track of your GPS position in relation to the route waypoints or nearby addresses, you can also use Virtual Navigation mode to explore your immediate vicinity on the map without physically being at these locations. This means that even while following a route, you can get an overview of your surrounding area and continue to receive real-time GPS information.
- You can get route instructions in terms of only the turns you need to make, or of the detailed waypoints. You can also open the Full Route screen to study each route point and focus will always be placed at the waypoint you are at or near to.
- Details of an intersection (e.g., names of cross streets), turns (e.g., direction and name of the street you are turning into), and POI (e.g., address, phone number and category) can be determined quickly with one key press.
- You can manually recalculate a route based on your current GPS position as the starting point.
- You can set the application to automatically recalculate the route if you wander off course.
- You can specify a destination and have the application tell you, within regular time intervals, if you are getting nearer this point in terms of heading and distance information.
- You can perform a basic search for all POIs within a predefined radius of your current GPS location or a selected virtual position on the map, and expand the search radius if necessary.
- You can perform an advanced search for POIs by name and category within a search radius for which you can specify the starting and end distance.
- You can save routes and load them later when needed.
- You can reverse a created or loaded route so that you need not, to reverse the points of origin and destination, create an entirely new route. The route is automatically recalculated based on the interchanged starting and end points, ensuring accuracy of route instructions.
- You can save user-defined points of interest if the map data does not identify a place as a POI.
- You can enter comments / notes about a selected POI or waypoint (e.g., to indicate if there is a road hazard near that point, a slight curve, narrow steps, etc.).
- You can share user POIs with people using Mobile Geo and other Sendero-based GPS products.
- You can edit and delete saved routes and user POIs.
- You can cancel the current route before reaching your intended destination.
- Whether or not you are following a route, a look-around function provides you with a quick view of your vicinity and learn about nearby POIs and intersections, as well as the change in your location in terms of the street, city, county, state or province.
- The application may be set to speak orientation details using standard terms (e.g., left/right/ahead/behind) or clock-face positions (e.g., at 9 o’clock), or a combination of these two methods.
- Units of measurement used can be according to the metric or imperial system.
- You can repeat previous Mobile Geo announcements, skipping any message spoken by the screen reader that is not related with Mobile Geo.
- You can open a history of Mobile Geo announcements with a user-configurable number of items.
- You can mute Mobile Geo announcements if you prefer while you are using another application. GPS monitoring and route following will not be disabled, and so announcements will still be updated to your current GPS position when announcements are re-enabled.
- You can prevent your Pocket PC or Smartphone from going into sleep mode while Mobile Geo is running, so that you continue to receive announcements from Mobile Geo even if you do not touch your device for some time. If a single-piece earphone or a Braille display is used, this allows you to keep your phone in your pocket, bag or purse.

Nuance ZOOMS™ is the latest addition to the Nuance Accessibility Suite. Designed especially for the needs of the low-vision community, Nuance ZOOMS, magnifies the content of mobile handset displays and enables people with low vision to navigate through the screen and make use of all of their phone's functions.
Overview
ZOOMS Version 3.10 is the first magnification software that supports handsets running Series 60 3rd Edition!
The latest addition to the Nuance Accessibility Suite, an integrated set of software designed specifically to meet the needs of the low-vision community, Nuance ZOOMS magnifies the content of mobile handset displays so that low-vision users can navigate through the screen and make use of all the functionality their mobile phones have to offer. The first full-screen magnification tool for Symbian Series 60 handsets, Nuance ZOOMS uses the complete screen area for magnification. And with its unique Distributed Views mode, Nuance ZOOMS enables users to view all important areas of the screen simultaneously.
Nuance ZOOMS has the effect of holding a magnifying glass over a handset screen - but without any equipment required. Users can move the Nuance ZOOMS magnifier across the screen to enlarge elements and intelligently access different screen areas. Using Nuance ZOOMS' full screen magnification capability, the user can magnify the entire screen area to view its contents at up to 16 times its original size. Alternatively, the Distributed Views mode divides the screen into several areas to display various elements simultaneously. As the user scrolls through a menu or a list of options, Nuance ZOOMS magnifies each item along with some of the surrounding area. By taking advantage of key commands, the user can magnify specific elements such as the window title, soft keys, or battery level indicator. What’s more, when the magnifier is on an object - such as a menu item - that does not fit on the screen in its entirety, the smart scrolling feature automatically begins to scroll through the text after a brief delay so the user can view the complete contents.

Unleash the exciting new features and the variety of form factors of these new smartphones from Nokia™!
- WMA and MP3 playback, with support for Digital Rights Management.
- Basic GPS access.
